Dolphin Bay Preserve ~ Make A Difference On Your Vacation!
The Dolphin Bay Preserve EcoTour is unlike any other tour in Bocas del Toro! Go beyond dolphin viewing, jungle hiking, and snorkeling and experience nature like never before! This is your chance to taste the fruit of cacao fresh from the pod, get close enough to touch poison dart frogs, caimans and sea urchins, and learn about the rich socioeconomic and cultural history of Bocas del Toro.

Tour Description
Our bilingual naturalist guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to the nearest dock, where our boat - man will be waiting. We will take a 20-minute boat ride to Dolphin Bay for a chance to view bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat. Our 100-acre farm is right on this bay, where we will take a two-hour hike through secondary forest and working cacao plantation.

We will taste fresh cacao, and Santiago, the caretaker and a member of the local Ngöbe tribe, will explain the process from fruit to chocolate. His wife will present the handicrafts she makes with a local women’s cooperative. We will crunch on fresh sugar cane and the sweetest pineapple you’ve ever tasted as we walk along carefully maintained trails. There are so many poison dart frogs that we will have to be careful not to step on them!

Passing trees that are over 100 years old, our guide will describe how this particular farm mirrors the history of Bocas del Toro. The chances of seeing howler monkeys, toucans, caimans, and other wildlife are great.

After a filling lunch made locally, we will snorkel in the warm Caribbean waters that surround the Dolphin Bay Preserve peninsula, an area with pristine corals unequaled in beauty.

We will drop you off at your hotel exhausted but exhilarated from your encounters with nature.
